Squash Vine Borers

Light Brown clumps are Borer "castings"

I cut open the vine and remove the Borers.

Then close it and cover the wound with soil.

I have read to bury the damaged area and water well.

It will root again and heal. We will see. Almost all the plants have the insect.

It has been a good learning experience. I hope we don't lose a lot of squash.

I will get better at predicting their position and use pins not cutting into the plant.

The plants are under much stress.
