Old timbers, new steps

The old steps were not consistent and too high so I added timbers to build a consistent rhythm.  The timbers were from an old retaining wall I replaced two years ago. The pea rock was left over from a project. I left the little shrub in the steps for garnishment. As soon as people step on them they realize they need to adjust to new materials. Its like walking up a beach. I think this will help the timbers keep dry and reduce decay.

The steps are below ground level, as is good landscape design. I may replace the rock with something else later,we will see how it goes.
